Bean Helps Distribute Blessings in a Backpack

Bean Automotive Group lends its helping hand to support a healthier school year for local students. As the newest partner of a non profit organization called Helping Others and Giving Hope (HOAGH), BAG is helping fund a special project led by HOAGH founder Steven Ferreiro. Blessings in a Backpack, an established nationwide initiative, strives to feed public school students who are below the poverty line. That makes up over 70% of kids attending public school in Miami-Dade County.

Ferreiro has pledged to deliver easy-to-prepare food to 90 children every Friday till the end of the school year, to assure the kids have meals for the weekend. Ferreiro, who manages HOAGH as a full-time student, founded the organization to find solutions for fellow students with food insecurity. His goal is to reach students throughout the state of Florida.

As a founder, problem solver, student and optimist, Ferreiro explains that even though his schedule is understandably overwhelming, he believes there is always a solution. “I see HOAGH a decade from now growing to be one of the biggest nonprofits in the state and possibly the United States of America.”
